Dr. Franklin Roosevelt Afotey is responsible for InvestBank’s investment banking activities in Africa, including its dealings with government, corporate, and financial sponsor clients, amongst other entities. Dr. Afotey oversees equity, debt, and project financings, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic and corporate advisory transactions in Africa. Trained in the USA, Singapore, and Switzerland, Dr. Afotey is a highly respected corporate and investment banking executive skilled in executing government and corporate mandates through his vast and growing professional network.
Dr. Afotey is an innovative financial engineer and markets structure expert. With a doctorate degree from Switzerland, Dr. Afotey is a charismatic leader with significant experience handling complex investment banking, regulatory, corporate, and strategic advisory transactions. Dr. Afotey has a track record of success and over 14 years of professional experience in global investment banking and international capital markets, with significant experience across the financial, energy, utilities, and infrastructure sectors. Dr. Afotey has extensive M&A and financing experience and has originated and advised on over USD 21BN in transactions.
Dr. Afotey has had the privilege to sit on panels at international forums with heads of states, ministers, chairmen, and CEOs across Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia. Dr. Afotey has moderated international conferences on regulatory issues, trade, and economic growth policies, and has served on many international committees. Dr. Afotey was recently on ECOWAS Commission on Mining & Petroleum and was a panel member on Mining FDI & Sector Financing. He was also the Conference Speaker - ECOWAS Member Bloc.
Dr. Afotey has won numerous awards in both project finance and investment banking in London, Geneva, and Cape Town. Dr. Afotey was voted by Thompson Reuters as the Africa Investment Banker of the Year in 2015 and 2016 in Cape Town, South Africa. Prior to joining InvestBank Corp., Dr. Afotey was the CEO of GoldSuisse Group and, prior to that, CEO of GoldSuisse Capital.
Dr. Afotey earned a masters and a doctorate degree from SBS Swiss Business School in Zurich, Switzerland. Dr. Afotey earned a post graduate diploma in contemporary management from NiBS, Accra, Ghana, and a certificate in credit risk management from the Accra Business School, Ghana. Dr. Afotey is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Corporate Treasurers, a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management, and a chartered risk analyst from the United States of America. Dr. Afotey’s research interests and academic focus are on investment banking and financial markets structure.
